Are there any reduced rates?

Only delegates from CEE/NI/less prosperous countries (as defined by the
UN/World Bank)are eligible for the reduced fee. Based on the GNI per
capita 2001, according to the World Development Indicators database,
World Bank, August 2002, there are 37 countries eligible to pay the full
fee. All other countries are eligible for the reduced fee.

Are Bursaries available?

Full and subsidized bursaries will be available to volunteers and the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. Contact Maura Ahern at maura@belfasthealthycities.com for further information

Are Partners welcome?
YES. Partners and families are welcome as Accompanying Persons. Please see rates for accompanying persons.

What are the alternative payment options?

• By Direct Bank Transfer into the Conference bank account in pounds sterling.
• By Credit Card through the conference organisers secure server - in Pounds Sterling or Euros.
• By Company Purchase Order for payment against our Invoice in Pounds Sterling by 12 September 2003 - fees must be paid prior to attending the conference or your booking may not be accepted.
• By sterling cheque payable to Happening

What are the currency options?
All fees are payable in Euros and pounds sterling (£ GBP). (The figures in brackets on the Fees Table are the Pound Sterling equivalents as at 24 March 2003.)

When is payment required?
Proof of full payment Credit Card, Cheque, Bank Draft or Bank Transfer must be received before the Conference. Cheques in Euros etc. are not acceptable. Any Delegates arriving at the Conference without payment or an official purchase order having been received will have to pay the due fees in cash/credit card in order to register.

Do I need to bring evidence of payment?
Please print out a copy of the Registration Form and present it to the Conference Registration Desk on arrival. Also bring details of how and when payment was made in case of any query.

What if I need to cancel after Registering?
Cancellations received in writing by 19 September 2003 will be refunded all payments less a 10% cancellation charge. Such refunds will be made after the Conference. No refunds will be allowed after 19 September 2003, but substitutions may be made without penalty up to 10 October 2003.

Can you send me an Invoice to arrange payment?
Please fax and airmail post your Organization's official Purchase Order signed by a duly authorized official by 12 September 2003. Address it to 2003 HCC Belfast Secretariat, C/o Happening, 9 Wellington Park, Belfast, BT9 6DJ, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Also fax a copy to +44 (0)28 9038 1257. We will issue an Invoice and send it by both fax and airmail for payment in Pounds Sterling by 30 September 2003.

Is there any Tax payable or recoverable?
The delegate conference fee is not subject to UK taxation. However accommodation booked and paid direct to the hotels will usually include 17.5% VAT, which may be recovered by UK and EU-registered Businesses and also by non-resident individuals. See H M Customs & Excise web site:

When and how do I book Accommodation?
All Delegates should book their hotel accommodation on the registration form, including guest houses and Bed & Breakfast accommodation. Details of special rates for Conference Delegates, contact details and booking deadlines are shown on the Accommodation Pages of this website.

Do I Need a UK entry visa to come to the Conference?

UK nationals are not required to carry a passport but some form of identification is advised. All other nationals must carry a valid passport or national identity card as appropriate. Citizens living within Europe and most other western countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa do not require visas to enter the UK or Ireland.

How do I get a Letter of Invitation?

Potential delegates who require letters of invitation to secure visas or financial support should send a written request on their organisation's official letter-heading to Belfast Healthy Cities, specifying the necessary details. These letters should not be considered official invitations for free participation at the conference.

Official Invitation Letters cannot be supplied in response to e-mail or web site requests due to UK security regulations.
