Planning decisions are taken within a tight set of material considerations, which are based on concrete and quantitative evidence. Clear health evidence is therefore also needed to inform spatial planning. Health impact analysis offers a systematic way to explore how a proposal might affect health and wellbeing, and can also help identify ways to maximise health and equity benefits.
The final workshop in the Beyond Bricks and Mortar Capacity Building series introduced Health Impact Assessment, demonstrating how it can be used as both a concept and concrete tool to inform decision-making. It will also provided an opportunity to explore the concept using a locally relevant proposal.
