In preparation for the submission of the city’s full application to WHO, the Lord Mayor hosted a Phase V workshop in Malone House on Tuesday 25 November 2008  for Chief Executives, senior officers from public agencies and government departments and Belfast Healthy Cities Board of Directors.

The purpose of the workshop was to agree the themes from within the WHO Phase V framework that the city of Belfast will submit as part of its application and outline how they will be taken forward during the next five year phase.

The results of this workshop identified a number of areas that Belfast should consider taking forward over the next five years. The report on the day's proceedings was forwarded to participants. Further redefining of the issues with many partners across the city and regionally will take place over in the coming weeks resulting in a final decision on the core areas to be included in the WHO application
