Submission to Review of Local Government Aspects of RPABelfast Healthy Cities has made a submission to the Review of the Local Government Aspects of RPA being conducted by the Department of the Environment. The submission follows the lines of previous consultation responses on RPA, and argues that local government should be developed in a way that supports health and wellbeing, which entails making services easily accessible and understood for citizens. It supports the development of community planning as a significant opportunity to join up working and engage with local citizens, but stresses that a process of capacity building is required within local government to make this process effective and inclusive. The submission is available here or through the Policy and Information section of the site.
Belfast Healthy Cities complete review of services for older driversThe report Supporting Safety and Independence provides an overview of older drivers in Northern Ireland and services available to support their skills and confidence. In addition, it provides information on existing services elsewhere in the UK and makes recommendations for future services in Northern Ireland. The report forms an action under the Healthy Ageing:InterAction plan and was presented to the transport forum established to lead actions on transport in the plan. It has also been submitted to the Department of the Environment and the Department for Regional Development, as the transport forum felt further action was outside its remit. More information on the healthy ageing programme is available in the Healthy Ageing section of the site. |
