KidsSpace is a large scale event which explores the creation of child friendly space in the city centre. Since 2011, KidsSpace events have transformed Victoria Square, CastleCourt, St Anne’s Square, Buoys Park, Writers Square and Belfast City Hall (to name a few.) into welcoming spaces for families and children.
The event consists of 3 main themes:
Creative Space – facilitated by community artists,
Active Space – facilitated by sports/dance coaches
Free Space – where children are encouraged to play and use the space freely, using large play equipment and games such as giant Connect 4 and Jenga.
Each event has been extremely successful with over 1000 children and parents taking part. Views and feedback have been collected through art based evaluation exercises, highlighting the increasing demand for family activity in Belfast City Centre.
