MAJOR WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION HEALTHY CITIES CONFERENCE WEBSITE LAUNCHED

Over 800 delegates due in city - October 2018

The World Health Organization (WHO) 2018 International Healthy Cities Conference has moved a step closer today with the launch of the official conference website. The website can be found at www.healthycitiesbelfast2018.com

The October conference was awarded to Belfast in a competitive process which involved other European Healthy Cities. It is expected that the event which takes place over 3 days at the start of October will attract more than 800 delegates from across the six WHO Global Regions in October 2018.

Joan Devlin, Chief Executive of Belfast Healthy Cities welcomed the support from the     organisation’s partners in staging the event.

Joan said,

“Since the potential of staging the conference here in Belfast materialised we have enjoyed a very positive relationship with our statutory partners including Public Health Agency, Belfast City Council, Visit Belfast, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust among others. The input from our colleagues in the European network of the World Health Organization has also been invaluable.

“The launch of the website today is an important milestone. This is the platform through which potential delegates will get their first exposure to Belfast and to the October event. Belfast has a lot to offer and we are determined that our delegates do more than simply attend the conference at Waterfront Hall without seeing the rest of what our city has to offer. We are planning site visits to all parts of the city and we want our visitors to leave with a real experience of Belfast and indeed a desire to return in future.”
