Meeting of the WHO European Healthy Cities Task Force on Healthy Ageing

The ninth meeting of the World Health Organization European Healthy Cities Task Force is currently taking place in Belfast, hosted by Belfast Healthy Cities.

The Healthy Ageing Taskforce is a WHO led working group which works to deliver specific aims and objectives in line with the WHO Healthy Cities Action Plan. The Belfast meeting will see the publication of a series of domain documents developed as part of the Age Friendly Environments in Europe (AFEE) project which includes policy planning tools to support ongoing assessment to ensure environments are age friendly environments. Policy makers including elected representatives from nine member cities will also exchange best practice experience in development cities which accommodate healthy ageing.

Councillor Sonia Copeland, chair of Belfast City Council’s All Party Reference Group on older people, formally welcomed the delegates to Belfast.

City representatives attending are from:  Belfast; Brno, Czech Republic; Horsens, Denmark; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Manchester; Newcastle-upon-Tyne; Oslo, Norway; Rijeka, Croatia; Udine, Italy
