Health 2020 Adopted

On 12 September 2012 the WHO European Region adopted a sustainable policy to protect and promote the health of its 900 million citizens, particularly the most vulnerable. The comprehensive new policy, called Health 2020, was endorsed by the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, WHO’s governing body for the Region, during its meeting in Malta.

‘Snippets’ from Belfast Healthy Cities is a monthly round up of links to local, national, European and World Health Organization news, events, and other on-line resources relating to health, wellbeing, and inequalities.

Travel Plans: Improving Health

Belfast Healthy Cities has developed a new publication outlining the importance of travel planning in tackling health inequality. ‘Travel Plans: Improving Health’ details how effective travel planning can improve levels of physical activity and help tackle obesity, through promoting walking and cycling as a mode of travel, as well as encouraging greater use of public transport and reducing carbon emissions.
