Our ‘Healthy Transport Schools Resource’ is a key stage 2 resource that allows children to think more in depth and critically about the theme of healthy transport – increasing their understanding of how people travel, and the impact travel choices have on health and the environment.
By ‘Healthy Transport’ we mean options of travel that support health and wellbeing, by providing opportunities for physical activity and our connection to nature. Understanding the healthier and more sustainable ways to travel at an early age can influence children’s behaviour throughout their lives.
This resource includes a Teaching Guide and 5 units covering the following themes
- Air Pollution
- Transport
- Active Travel
- School Travel
- Road Safety
The resources also include an additional, optional Walking Bus Toolkit which offers a step by step guide to developing a walking bus in your school. A Walking Bus is a supervised walk to school in the morning, great way for students, schools, and families to encourage a healthy active lifestyle while also working toward climate action.
